About Alaina

Alaina is a former Canyon Ranch Health Resort Acupuncturist with over 25 years of experience in the field of natural medicine, Post Graduate studies in Herbal Medicine, Auto-Immune Disorders, Cancer Support, Mind-Body and Harmonic Medicine. Licensed in Arizona and California. For the past 7 years she has been in private practice in Scottsdale, AZ and was Acupuncturist for Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center.  She currently is in private practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Alaina began her career in the Natural food business where she first worked in retail, retail management and as a successful Sales Representative in California for health food distributors and vitamin manufacturers.  She studied Humanistic Psychology at Sonoma State College in California where she developed her understanding of the relationship between the mind and health.  She chose her career in Chinese Medicine because of its’ recognition of the role of mind and emotions in physical health and well being, unlike allopathic medicine which tends to separate the mind-body.

She has taught at Naropa Institute of Canada, Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine, Shiatsu School of Canada, Arizona School of Acupuncture, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture and Shambhala Training International.

Alaina has practiced traditional forms of Tibetan meditation for over 30 years, attended Seminary and done numerous individual and group meditation retreats.  She enjoys practicing and teaching various forms of Chi (Qi) exercises and yogic movement since her graduation from Oriental Medicine school in 1989.

She provided Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine services at Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Tucson, Arizona and was a frequent lecturer and workshop teacher for five years there.  She has worked with Solstice Clinical Associates in Tucson under the direction of Dr Jesse Stoff, MD and specialized in the treatment of chronic fatigue, auto-immune diseases such as Lyme and Cancer.  Alaina also worked with Aspen Valley Cancer Guides in Aspen, Colorado and has worked at the Virginia G Piper Cancer Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.

She enjoys writing, hiking, meditation, internal chi exercises , travel with her gypsy alter ego and her rescue sheltie, Ceilidh in her free time.

Now after more than 25 years of private and group practices in California, Canada, Colorado and Arizona, Alaina Speraw offers her wealth of knowledge, skill and compassionate service at her clinic in Scottsdale, Goldlake Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
