During the winter months it’s easy to feel chilled, increasing warming spices like those found in Traditional Indian Chai Masala tea can be the perfect prescription.  With spices like Cinnamon to increase circulation, open the brain and enhance vitality, Cardamon which elevates mood, Clove for blood circulation and pain relief, Ginger for digestion, immunity and circulation and Fennel seed a carminative herb that promotes digestion this tea can’t be beat!  While recipes vary you can give this one a try.

Chai Tea

1 TBSP Fennel, 6 Cardamon Seeds (discard pod), 6 Cloves, 1 Cinnamon Stick,  1/4 tsp. ginger root, 1/4 tsp. black pepper. Bring to a boil all ingredients in 7 c water for 15-20 minutes, then add 2 Tbsp darjeeling black tea and steep for 5-10 minutes, add 1 c milk or soy milk and 6 Tbsps honey or other sweetner to taste.
